Product Description & Analysis Draft 1

In Garmin's product description page, it introduces the GPS device's features and functionality which shows why Garmin is the product to get, "All in one, Garmin is the ONE". Nuvi 4592 LM, an in-car-GPS device developed by Garmin, provides detailed maps and places of interest that comes with complimentary lifetime updates. Voice activated navigation, wifi and bluetooth are built in to allow users to navigate and answer calls safely hands-free.
The 4592 LM allow users to tell them the full address before navigation, replies interactively to remind users that their hands can remain safely on the wheel. It also comes with a magnetic cradle that charges device when plugged in. An integrated driving recorder backups indisputable evidence in the event of accidents that can be viewed on a laptop.
The 4592 LM allows rerouting of path on-the-go, diverting the driver away from traffic and avoiding specific routes/tolls, sorts multiple destinations. It also has unique features such as predicting the driver’s favourite route “myTrends” and can even suggest eco-friendly routes “ecoRoute”.
TomTom, a competitor of Garmin’s is also discussed. In TomTom’s product review page, it tells us about what to expect from the product, its functions and bugs. TomTom GO Live 1535M, a product developed by TomTom provides several location searching applications such as Yelp, Expedia, Trip Advisor and Google. GO Live 1535M is also integrated with voice activated navigation and bluetooth however there is no wifi. The preview of traffic, fuel and speed cameras along the route are also integrated in the maps.

GO Live 1535M is able to recommend places of interests determined by home address, destination of the current route or city of choice. Setting destinations are also made easier with voice commands. GO Live 1535M is also able to post tweets on Twitter, with a touch of a button, to allow others to know your location and the estimated time of arrival. TomTom also links the GPS to a mobile application, MyDrive, which allows consumers to access their GPS.

In conclusion, these products are very similar, they can be easily be replaced. However, what set the benchmark is the accuracy of the data provide to the customer. TomTom GO Live 1535M in a sense have better precision in data as compare to Nuvi 4592 LM. This show that TomTom GO Live 1535M is a better product.

  2. Dear Hui Yee,

Here are some suggestions that you might want to consider for your summary.

    1)No website source present?

[In Garmin's product description page (n.d.)...]

    2)No keypoints emphasized

3)Main thesis might not be clear enough to the reader. What deciding factors are you using to compare garmin with?

4)No references of sources…. (APA style)

5)The 4592 LM allow users to tell them the full address before navigation, replies interactively to remind users that their hands can remain safely on the wheel >>>>>( “allows the user to tell them….”, users telling others ?)

6)Setting destinations are also made easier with voice commands. GO Live 1535M is also able to post tweets on Twitter, with a touch of a button, to allow others to know your location and the estimated time of arrival.>>> try no to use the word “yours” in the article.

7)What is your reaction after comparing the 2 different products?

I hope that you will find these suggestions useful.

    Regards,
    Telson & Marilyn
